“If you have a heart for children and those who are less fortunate and made some bad choices, you will be blessed to touch the lives of these inmates, their kids and families. You can’t imagine how powerful it will be.”

- Vicky Reid, Volunteer since 2011

Each year, our volunteers visit prisons for several months before Christmas, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, and help connect incarcerated parents to their children by filming the parent reading a book to their children and sharing a personal message.

To join the volunteer team that goes to prisons to coach and film parents, you’ll need to follow the directions on this sheet and then CALL our office at 405-285-5955 so we can follow up with the DOC on your behalf. After they do your background check, you’ll be invited to a DOC Volunteer training (a Saturday), and get your approval and a badge. Then we will give you the OK Messages Volunteer Handbook, do a one-hour training, and you’ll be ready to go!

There are other ways to join our cause and volunteer! Contact our Director to know more about these opportunities. 405-285-5955.

How To Get Involved

We are looking for volunteers to:

  • Help with filming parents reading a book to their children at the various prisons across the state of Oklahoma.
  • Put together video and book packages to send to the children in care of their guardians.
  • Serve on an event committee, help with fundraising efforts and more!
  • Help with fundraising efforts and events.

These children deserve hope and a brighter future, and you can help!

“We can’t change the world in 1 video, but we can make a difference in a young child’s life by bringing them a video that can give them days and days of happiness as they see a healthy and loving parent on their TV’s.”
