Each year, November 28 serves as National Giving Day, a time to make contributions to those in need. If you care deeply about children, we hope you will consider a donation to the Oklahoma Messages Project. It is our ongoing mission to bridge the gap between children and their incarcerated parents.
Consider that Oklahoma is home to more than 90,000 children whose parents are incarcerated. Consider that Oklahoma incarcerates more women/mothers per capita than anywhere in the U.S. and world, and is the second highest for men/fathers. Then, consider the effects of not having one or both parents present. Through no fault of their own, these children struggle in school, suffer from trauma, fear, sadness and loneliness. Children of incarcerated parents are also more likely to end up in prison–a dangerous cycle that we work to eliminate.
With our Message Videos, a child sees their parent, hears their voice, can follow along as they read them their favorite story, while finding comfort and reassurance. We’ve seen, first hand, how our Message Videos help the child improve their attitude and reading ability, while being reminded that their parent loves them.
Your contribution can help us continue to bridge the gap. We can film more parents and improve the lives of more children, so join the Oklahoma Messages Project on National Giving Day. Any contribution helps and is greatly appreciated. Donate today.
